Foiling

Curly and wavy hair suffers from all-over permanent hair color--particulary if you have a case of drier scalp/hair.

In come semipermanent hair color (washes out within a few weeks) and foiling. My favorite semipermanent hair color is Natural Instincts (by Clairol) because it lasts a little longer and has proven to be more gentle on my own hair. Foiling, on the other hand, involves bleaching sections of the hair around the face, top, and rear in order to apply a gloss or other type of color over it. It's a version of highlighting.

To learn more about hair color and cuts, see The Hair Color Diva website--a great website I found about three years ago.
